We see in cloud shapes what is already in our imaginations, and then, using the cloud viewer, match the real clouds to the printed image.
Description:
Children love to lie on the grass, gazing up at the blue sky, dreaming about the shapes of the clouds, imagining them as animals, people or mountains. Eventually, they ask, what keeps the clouds up in the sky? What are their names? How high do they go? The Cloud Viewer, together with the cloud activity, helps answer some of these questions for the Child.
The Cloud Viewer:
A square, ply-wood paddle, with a cut-out in the center and a handle
10 images of different cloud formations surround the cut-out
each image is labelled;
The Child holds the cut-out portion of the paddle, over the cloud to view it;
Children match the real cloud to one of the images, once the Child identifies the type of cloud, they can refer to the cloud activity material to learn more about it.
Children must use this viewer under supervision. Teach them the danger to their eyes, if they look directly at the sun.
Size of the Cloud Viewer:
paddle – 22 x 21 x cm / (8.5″ x 8″)
handle – 8.5 x 4 cm / (3¼” x 1.5″)
